A Landscape in Five Characters

Mountains · Water · Clouds · Pines · Moon

This Songjin calligraphy desk display brings together five familiar images from traditional Chinese landscape culture: mountains, water, clouds, pine trees, and the moon.

Rather than depicting a complete landscape, the work uses five handwritten characters to suggest one. Each character sits on a firm card with a Songjin brocade border, bringing together the movement of ink, the texture of woven patterns, and the quiet rhythm of a horizontal composition.

Made to stand on a desk, shelf, or tabletop, it offers a small expression of Chinese visual culture for everyday living.

Handwritten to Order

Each character is written by hand by artist Niohe after an order is placed. Brushstrokes, ink density, and the spacing of individual characters may vary slightly from the photographed example.

These natural differences are part of the handmade process. Your display will follow the same design and character arrangement, but your piece will be individually written rather than mechanically reproduced.

Songjin Brocade: A Unique Combination

The Songjin brocade borders are supplied in assorted patterns and colors rather than a fixed design. I select and arrange the available pieces to create a combination that feels visually balanced.

The brocade on your order will therefore likely differ from the photographs. The five-character composition remains the same, while the textile patterns give each display its own appearance.
